Milestones
Language and Cognitive milestone
- Your child should be able to speak in complete sentences, answer simple questions
- Should be able to follow multi-step commands with three or more steps
- Should be able to count, identify colors, shapes, numbers and letters
- Use pronouns appropriately
- Should be able to draw a person with atleast three body parts
Physical milestones
- Your child should be able to skip, climb, and jump.
- They may be able to do a somersault and to stand on one foot for 10 or more seconds.
- Most 4-year-olds are able to get dressed and undressed without help and are learning how to brush their teeth.
- Your child is learning how to pour without too much spilling and can mash food.
- They are likely potty trained, but may still wet the bed.
Social and emotional milestone
- At 4, your child will likely comfort others who are hurt or sad.
- They are learning to avoid danger and will take fewer risks.
- They like to be helpful.
- They are able to change their behavior based on where they are (such as a library or a playground).
At Horizons, we try to invest in your child and bring out the best at this stage, wherein the child starts to build his academic foundation for Grade 1. This particular grade is important for a child’s cognitive and social development because it is at this stage a child learns to become confident in conversing and presenting him/herself in front of others.
